Institute of Economic of the Latvian Academy of Sciences recieved Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan Kadambay Sultanov

At the September 3, 2020 the Institute of Economics of the Latvian Academy of Sciences received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan Kadambay Sultanov. Topics important for Uzbekistan and Latvia such as economic diversification and strengthening the national economy in the conditions of the pandemic, the impact of Covid-19 on the economy and exports, globalization challenges in Europe and Asia, labor market development trends, raising the qualifications of Uzbek citizens to European market standards were discussed and the development of gender equality in both countries.

The LAS Institute of Economics presented to the Ambassador the research conducted by the Institute and its results on the sectors of the Latvian economy, the ports of Riga, the development of entrepreneurial skills and the promotion of the qualification of the workforce, etc.

As a result of the meeting, the LAS Institute of Economics and the Embassy of Uzbekistan agree on further cooperation in organizing joint projects and educational activities, providing opportunities for raising the qualification of the workforce and attracting EU funds to strengthen cooperation between Uzbekistan and Latvia. Director of the Institute Dr. Nina Linde invited His Excellency Ambassador Kadambay Sultanov to the IV International Economic Forum “FUTURE ECONOMY: Globalization challenges faced by Europe and the Baltics in the 21st century”, which will take place this year.
