L.C.F.A. Director Meets with the Leadership and Researchers of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS)
In Shanghai, the Director of the Latvian-Chinese Friendship Association (L.C.F.A.), Dr. Ņina Linde, held a highly friendly, engaging, and productive meeting at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS).
The SASS delegation was represented by Prof. Cheng Fucai, Ph.D., Director of the Office of International Cooperation; Dr. Zhan Yubo, Research Professor at the Institute of Economics and Director of the Office of Western Economics; alongside Program Officers Dr. Lavinia Fan and Ms. Zou Yi from the Office of International Cooperation.
The discussions covered key scientific and socio-economic priorities shared by both Latvia and China, including population aging, GDP growth, macroeconomic trends, and the labor market competitiveness of Generation Z. The Chinese colleagues demonstrated profound knowledge of Latvia’s economic landscape and highly commended the recent positive dynamics of the Latvian economy. Furthermore, the host institution shared insights into their weekly PCP seminars, which focus on China’s latest developments in innovation, legal frameworks, and policy regulations.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed on several concrete pillars for future collaboration:
- Joint Scientific Projects & Funding: Exploring European Union and Chinese funding mechanisms to develop joint research initiatives, particularly focusing on strategic themes such as “China & Europe as Mega Systems.”
- 9th International Humanistic Economic Forum (March 2027): SASS leadership and researchers were cordially invited to attend as honored guests and speakers at the 9th International Humanistic Economic Forum, scheduled for March 4–6, 2027, in Riga.
- Joint Seminars & Educational Programs: Co-developing collaborative seminar series and course modules in the social sciences, combining expertise in economics, sociology, psychology, and related disciplines.
