The report of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in July 2020 welcomed the work of the III International Economic Forum, organized by the LAS Institute of Economics in Riga, on October 31 and November 1, 2019, with the national research program project INTERFRAME-LV support. The forum was attended by 170 participants from 22 countries, including ambassadors from 12 countries and 56 speakers from 10 countries. The involvement of young people in the work of the Forum and its international dimension, which could serve as a further contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, were particularly positively described. The Economic and Social Council supported the organization of such projects and events in the future.
The following priorities were identified as recommendations to the UN in the development of future initiatives:
- Promote educational initiatives in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and facilitate their implementation by involving young people;
- Support multicultural experiences among young people in order to prevent racism, intolerance and prejudice;
- To support social responsibility in the education system.
The IV International Economic Forum will take place on November 27 this year on the topic “FUTURE ECONOMY: globalization challenges faced by Europe and the Baltics in the 21st century”. For more information: International Economic Forum!
